The Cistercian monastery Plasy, founded in 1144 by Vladislav II, was rebuilt in its present Baroque form at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries and the famous builder Santini, among others, took part in the reconstruction. The entire monastery has recently undergone a complete restoration and our sisal runners have been used in the abbey residence.

Due to the fact that the monastery is under the administration of the NPÚ, the materials used in the complete restoration of some of the buildings had to be carefully selected to match the unified concept throughout the whole areal.

Sisal runners

Sisal runners and coir mats in combination with textile mats proved to be the ideal material for this purpose. Bellevue sisal carpet was chosen for most of the spaces and we used it to make runners along the entire length of the tour route. These have a non-slip backing on the backsideand are finished with a cotton border.

  • Sisal carpets absorb noise very well.

  • Sisal fibres are naturally resistant to fire.
  • Sisal, on the other hand, is not well suited to damp environments, so we installed cleaning mats in the entrance areas.

Entrance mats and zones

Sufficiently large cleaning mats made of various materials are placed at the entrances where visitors approach the tour route, to prevent unwanted dirt and especially moisture from entering the building. We have ended all the mats with rubber profiles.

All used materials were chosen in natural shades of light to medium brown to match well with the wooden mosaic floors in the monastery.
